More than doubling in size, High Life Highland has announced plans for the upgrade and development of the gym at Inverness Leisure.
Due to be completed in December, the new gym will boast the latest Technogym equipment and additional areas for a complete body workout.
Alongside the newly opened strength and conditioning room, Inverness Leisure will be able to accommodate 150 gym-goers at any one time.
High Life Highland’s Director of Sport and Leisure Douglas Wilby said: “This is our second phase of a wider plan to develop the health, fitness and group exercise offer at the Highland’s largest leisure facility.
“The relocation of Café Aqua has allowed us to increase the footprint of the gym from 381m2 to 800m2, allowing for more equipment and space for customers to work out.”
The current equipment will be completely replaced by the market leader in gym gear, Technogym, official supplier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games – making this their eighth time as an official supplier. ⠀
While the refurbishment is being carried out, the existing gym will move to Sports Hall 2 from November 14 to ensure people can still workout while the changes are made.
Inverness Area Leisure manager Kevin Thomson said: “This is a very exciting time for Inverness Leisure and the new equipment will provide on-demand workouts at the touch of a button.
“There will be a new area called the Love 2 Train Room focusing on functional fitness where, using wearable technology, you will be able to follow and monitor your workout progress.
“We’ll also have designated areas for stretching and toning as well as the latest rowers, bikes, steppers and new treadmills which replicate outdoor running.”
Through the Technogym app, customers will be able to view their workout and body stats, helping to chart progress and it will be compatible with most brands of wearable technology.
Other changes include:
- cardiovascular machines increasing from 41 to 63
- resistance equipment stations increasing from 14 to 24
- dumbbell provision up to 50kg
- increase in weightlifting racks
Use of the new gym will be included in the cost of the current highlife Membership – £21.70 for an individual or £32.60 for a family.
Membership also allows you access to the leisure waters, competition pool, climbing wall, running track as well as swimming lessons and 125 group exercise classes each week.
