A £3,000 donation to a project that supports adults with learning disabilities has been welcomed by Inverness Botanic Gardens.
The High Life Highland venue welcomed shop manager Izzie MacDonald from the Caring and Sharing charity shop on Queensgate in Inverness.
She presented the cheque to the GROW Project and Inverness Botanic Gardens manager Ewan Mackintosh.
The GROW Project supports 25 adults with learning difficulties, with many also having mobility issues.
Mr Mackintosh said: “The money will make a significant difference to the trainees here, allowing us to buy and install raised beds for gardening making it much easier and accessible.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Caring and Sharing, not only for helping prevent sore backs and dirty knees, but their donation will help us include more people into the activities we offer, making life easier for everyone.”
Over a half of the garden area at Inverness Botanic Gardens is lovingly looked after by the GROW Project.
Mr Mackintosh added: “The garden provides an inclusive workplace-type environment that uses horticulture therapy to deliver training and work experience which goes towards improving trainees’ levels of independence, social inclusion, health, and happiness.
“We welcome visitors to look around, and discover our fruit trees, vegetable plots, wildflowers, bulbs, herb beds, a bug hotel encouraging insect life, and much more.”
The GROW Project welcomes volunteers to support the project and its trainees.
