Within the next week or so, the City of Inverness will wave goodbye to 2022 and welcome 2023 in style.
The City’s Red-Hot Highland Fling is one of a series of experiences presented by Highland Council’s Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group which is financially supported by the Inverness Common Good Fund.
Organisers are reminding those intending to come along that it is a ticket-only event and all the free-tickets available have already been snapped up.
Speaking about the event, The Provost of Inverness, Councillor Glynis Sinclair, Chair of the City of Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group said, “The Events and Festivals Working Group is delighted that all the tickets have already gone, demonstrating that people coming to the city are clearly getting ready for a red-hot hooley.
“We’ve already announced that this year the event will compered by one of Scotland’s favourites, Fred MacAulay. With music provided by local favourites, Tweed and Torridon, and headlining the traditional family spot will be Mànran. So, we are really hoping for a great family atmosphere to take us into midnight.”
The event officially starts at 8.30pm, with gates opening an hour before and will run through until 12.30am on 1st January 2023.
The Safety Advisory Group, a group of local partners involved in ensuring the event runs safely for the public, are asking ticketholders to ensure they leave plenty of time to allow security to carry out ticket checks prior to entering the Northern Meeting Park Arena. Making it clear that there will be no ‘on-the-night’ walk-in entries without a ticket.
Everyone who has a ticket has been sent safety and security details, and they are being asked to familiarise themselves with the details prior to coming along on the night. Those attending are advised that food and drink providers will be on site at the venue, therefore individuals will not be permitted to take their own food and drink into the arena.
Concluding, The Provost of Inverness, Councillor Glynis Sinclair said, “With only a matter of days to go, we are counting down until the we welcome the many thousands of revellers back the city’s Red-Hot Highland Fling to welcome in 2023.”
Those without tickets who are looking to spend Hogmanay in the City are being encouraged to support some of Inverness’ local hotels, restaurants and bar business in and around the City Centre.
Organisers have advised that there is also a waiting list for tickets, and urging anyone who has tickets but not going to use any of them to return tickets via the online link.
