Third diamond hoodie awarded to community spirited Culloden pupil

A High Life Highland Young Leader from Smithton has become the third person to receive the programme’s top leadership hoodie

Scott MacKay (17) was awarded his Diamond hoodie last week for achieving 1000 volunteering hours.

The S6 pupil at Culloden Academy has been involved in the leadership programme since taking part in a Choose to Lead course online in lockdown. Scott has been volunteering with Active Schools since 2022, leading and supporting at term-time after-school and lunchtime sessions and holiday activities across Culloden. He currently leads a dance class for P1-3 at Smithton Primary on Friday afternoons.

Scott is also involved in a number of other activities in the local community including with the Culloden Youth Group, he is a Developing the Young Workforce Ambassador and he volunteers at both the Highland Hospice and the Whin Park Railway.

For his charity event for his 750 hour hoody, he chose to raise money for Highland Hospice by planning and running a Treasure Hunt at Smithton Primary for all 300+ pupils to take part in with all proceeds going to the Hospice.
