The internet is part of everyday life. We use it to communicate, to shop, to work and to solve problems. Digital skills are needed increasingly in every aspect of our lives including applying for jobs, accessing healthcare and managing finances.

Digital skills include:

Communicating

The skills required to communicate, collaborate, and share information like using email or social media to communicate with friends, family or colleagues.

Transacting

The skills required to register and apply for services, buy and sell goods and services, and administer and manage transactions online such as using online banking or shopping online.

Handling information & content

The skills required to find, manage and store digital information and content securely like saving your personal photos and videos online or using a ‘cloud’ service such as Microsoft 365 to create, share and collaborate with colleagues at work.

Problem solving

The skills required to find solutions to problems using digital tools and online services like searching for information or using YouTube to find an answer or learn how to fix a problem.

Being safe, legal, and confident online

The skills required to stay safe, legal and confident online like being able to use safe and strong passwords to keep your personal information secure online.
