The construction works on the new Nuclear and Caithness Archive Centre are advancing well and the building is really taking shape. The steelwork is complete and all of the floor slabs have been poured. The roofing/cladding works are progressing and the mechanical and electrical trays are being installed to run and contain the cables throughout the building. The archive storage installation of mobile shelving has begun as has the blockwork for the plant room.
Morrison Construction have hired several Caithness companies to help complete this construction project, which has also created up to 120 construction jobs. This includes a Site Management Trainee, a Site Office Manager and Apprentice Administrator, who are all from the local area and who have been employed by Morrison Construction since the beginning of the project. To date the company has hosted numerous site visits at different stages of the build, from a variety of stakeholders and including a group of engineering and construction students from North Highland College.
