The Highland Archive Service has had a busy old time during the last few months welcoming visitors from all parts of the globe. The exodus of people from the Highlands in centuries gone by has resulted in millions of people in many countries of the world having Highland roots. In the summer time many people come to the Highlands to discover who their ancestors were and where they lived.
Sandra Harrison and Vivienne Gray are two such visitors. Sandra is from Vancouver Island in Canada and has been consulting our Family Historian, Anne Fraser, for several years by email. Vivienne is from a bit closer to home, Newcastle upon Tyne, and became acquainted with Sandra via family history research on the Internet. They travelled up to the Highland Archive Centre together and are researching their family names, Gray, Fraser and Dingwall.
This photograph shows Sandra and Vivienne with Anne, our Family Historian, who carries out consultations for members of the public wishing to research their family trees.
