Doors Open Day is a very exciting concept which is wholeheartedly embraced by many organisations nationally. For one day each year a building is thrown open for members of the public to look around and find out more about what happens there. Highland Archive Centre participates in Doors Open Day every year and thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to welcome into the building people who have perhaps never crossed the threshold. The date for your diary this year is Saturday 3 September, 11am-4pm.
This year the theme will be “My Favourite Things”. Members of staff will select for display their own favourite documents, so the resulting exhibitions should be wonderfully diverse.
There will be lots of documents and resources, family trees and heraldry to see as well as tours behind the scenes. There will also be the chance to question our family history experts and to watch old Highland films. There will be live demonstrations of conservation techniques and activities for children.
We look forward to seeing you here.
