Next week is Libraries Week, and to celebrate, High Life Highland libraries will be running activities for literature lovers across the Highlands – including the return of Bookbug.
Libraries Week runs from October 4-10 and aims to showcase and celebrate the best that libraries have to offer.
HLH Principal Libraries Manager Julie Corcoran said: “The theme this year focuses on the role that libraries play in their community as a driver for inclusion, sustainability, social mobility and community cohesion.
“We’ll be running a wide range of activities across our 40 libraries from book quizzes, to special displays, book sales, the reintroduction of our popular book clubs, Bookbug sessions and a children’s treasure hunt.
“Since the start of the pandemic, we were forced to move Bookbug sessions online. It’s an extremely popular programme for babies through to five year olds and encourages book sharing, developing literacy and giving families time to talk, play and sing together.
“We hope everyone in our communities across the Highlands will enjoy the activities during Libraries Week – and beyond – and everyone is welcome.”
High Life Highland libraries are free to join, giving you access to not just physical books, magazines, newspapers and computers, but thousands of titles through its online service too.

Inverness Library will be launching its Bookbug sessions on Thursday, October 7 between 11.15am and 11.45am. It will also be running a book sale and a children’s literature treasure hunt throughout the week.
Culloden Library will be launching its Bookbug sessions on Friday, October 8 between 10.15am and 10:45am. A book sale will be running from Monday (October 4) through to Wednesday (October 6).
