In the run-up to ‘Get Set For Summer’ on Saturday 24th June, High Life Highland and LCC Live are delighted to recognise the number of contributions they have received from local businesses and organisations in giving back to the community and supporting the event.
Margaret Laws, Inverness BID’s Admin and Marketing Manager, who has helped the organisers with the reach-out to City businesses said, “It never ceases to amaze me how community-minded and generous our fantastic City Centre businesses are.
“We are thrilled that one of our locally based toy stores Smyths responded to our callout for support towards High Life Highland’s ‘Get Set for Summer’ event without hesitation. The entire Smyths team do such a great job, and the fact they actively stay involved in community-oriented events makes all the difference.”
Barry Martin, Store Manager of Inverness’ Smyths Toys Superstore, said: “As soon as we heard about the ‘Get Set For Summer’ event from Inverness BID, it was an obvious decision to show our support by donating a range of our toys for visitors to enjoy on the day.
“We are delighted to be supporting what will no doubt be fun day in the sun and look forward to seeing local families and children having a blast with the array of toys on show.”
Donated outdoor toys include hula hoops, rocket launchers, velcro catchers, and more, which can be found in the High Life Highland ‘Active Schools’ area of the event this weekend and which will be hosted by High Life Highland’s Young Leaders.
The ‘Get Set for Summer’ event will even contribute to the Young Leaders’ awards, as all hours volunteered will contribute towards Young Leader’s and be accredited to their ‘Choose to Lead’ Level 4 and 5 SCQF qualification.
Another local contributor to the event has been Azets, a local accountancy and business advisory service based in Inverness. Azets said it was delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Get Set for Summer’ Big Family fun day in partnership with High Life Highland.
Mhairi Callander, Partner at Azets said, “This event links closely with our purpose at Azets, to improve the lives of our colleagues, clients and communities in a sustainable way, and we are delighted to be able to support such a wonderful community event and I look forward to attending.”
Les Kidger, LCC Live’s Managing Director, responded: “We’ve been blown away by the generosity of so many local businesses in the area who have contributed to bringing ‘Get Set for Summer’ to life.
“A huge thanks goes out all contributors for their support of ‘Get Set For Summer’, and to High Life Highland’s Young Leaders for volunteering their time at the event.”
Steve Walsh, High Life Highland’s Chief Executive, concluded: “The idea behind ‘Get Set for Summer’ has always been to give back to the community by promoting the many groups, businesses and organisations operating across Inverness. So we are extremely grateful to everyone giving their direct support towards making the event happen.
“Equally inspiring is seeing High Life Highland’s Young Leaders come forward to volunteer on the day and help with the ‘Active Schools’ area of the event using the outdoor games donated by Smyths. We couldn’t have brought this event together without the local support we have received.”
‘Get Set For Summer’ is a charitable, community give-back event piloted collaboratively by High Life Highland and LCC Live. It is set to take place at the Northern Meeting Park in Inverness from 11am-5pm on June 24th.
