High Life Highland is pleased to be working in partnership with NHS Highland as the charity has offered to support the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination programme by providing venues across the Highland area for vaccinations to take place.
Steve Walsh Chief Executive of the Charity said, “Our venues are currently closed due the current guidelines and I am delighted that we are in a position once again to be able to support one of our partners during the pandemic. The vaccination roll out is a vital step in trying to restore some normality for everyone which will ultimately allow us to reopen our sites and provide our services to local communities across the Highlands.”
The Charity confirmed that the following premises will be utilised in the first instance to support the vaccination programme:
Craig Maclean Leisure Centre, Badenoch Centre and Aviemore Community Centre.
Mr Walsh continued, “I am very proud of the way the teams within Highlife Highland have demonstrated the flexibility to continue providing services in local communities where they are needed most. In the first lockdown we were able to provide support for many months as a humanitarian assistance centre at Inverness Leisure before the leisure centre re-opened to the public and hosting was passed on to Eden Court.
NHS Highland Chief Executive Pam Dudek said “We are expecting to vaccinate tens of thousands of people over the next few weeks. The support we have had and been offered to help us with this has been very much appreciated and we are grateful to the team at High Life Highland for their help. These have been very challenging times but it is heartening to know that so many are willing to support us during this period and I would like to extend my thanks to them.”
During the initial lockdown for coronavirus in March, High Life Highland increased its digital footprint to include more online services for customers.
Mr Walsh concluded, “We will provide online content across our services from Leisure to Music Tuition to make sure customers have access to as much as possible during the lockdown period. I would like to thank our customers for their continued support and reassure them that our teams are ready for when we are able to welcome them back.”
