Indoor cycling comes to Thurso Leisure Centre

Indoor cycling is coming to Thurso Leisure Centre for the first time ever.

Taster sessions will be running at the Millbank Road venue from Monday (February 21) giving people an opportunity to try the new activity

Leisure centre manager William Durrand said: “We’re very excited to be able to offer, for the first time in Thurso, indoor cycling – one of the most popular exercise classes across the Highlands.

“We’ll be running short taster sessions for around half an hour covering bike set up and delivering a mini-class with our new instructors, who will be happy to answer any questions from our customers.

“Indoor cycle classes offer a great workout to boost your fitness and can help improve cardio endurance and strengthen your legs and core.

“It’s a low-impact form of exercise but definitely an intense class with sprints and climbing, although participants can manage their own resistance on the bike.”

Taster sessions will run throughout the week commencing February 21, with taster sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 5.30pm and 7.45pm – with a 9am taster available on Thursday (February 24).

Taster sessions will also run Saturday (February 26) and Sunday (February 27) at 8am, 9am, 10am and 12.30pm.

From Monday, February 28, the regular indoor cycling programme will run:

  • Monday at 7.30am-8.15am and 7.30pm-8.15pm
  • Tuesday at 7.30am-8.15am
  • Wednesday at 7.30pm-8.15pm
  • Thursday at 7.30am-8.15am
  • Saturday and Sunday at 8am-8.45am and 9am-9.45am
