Recruitment is now underway for people to lead tours around Castlehill in Inverness during the
coming months.
The guides will lead tours that will take a peek behind the hoardings around the
Castle, providing an overview of the history of the site, as well as looking to its future as a visitor
attraction. The tours will be on offer daily from August until later this autumn.
High Life Highland is looking for people willing to provide a warm welcome to all visitors and to
lead the tours of the outside of Inverness Castle, while providing information about the Castlehill
site. Anyone interested in taking on the guiding role will be expected to have an enthusiastic
attitude and provide excellent customer care to all visitors as they lead the tours around the site.
Fiona Hampton, director of the Inverness Castle project, said: “We are keen that anyone with an
interest in the ongoing transformation of the Castle is able to get up close to the building to hear
about the latest developments. The guides leading the tours will take people behind the
hoardings, sharing an overview of the Castle’s history, before focussing on the ongoing work to
transform the Castle into its future role as a visitor attraction.
“The tour guide role would be an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for an outdoor job
over the coming weeks. The main requirement will be to provide a warm welcome to all visitors
and to lead small groups around the site on a daily basis. All tours will be carried out in
compliance with coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions in effect at the time. Given that many
people have worked in or around the Castle when it was operating as a court, perhaps there are
people who have first-hand experience of the building who would be interested in the role!”

The transformation of Inverness Castle is supported by £15 million Scottish Government and £3
million UK Government investment through the city region deal. It will create a gateway for
Highland tourism, contributing to reinvigoration of tourism across the area and providing much
needed investment for the industry to aid the recovery from the effects of the COVID-19
pandemic.
The project will support economic growth throughout the Highland area, creating a
sustainable, viable and “must-see” attraction that will celebrate the spirit of the Highlands.
