With Scottish summers being notoriously unpredictable the team at the Highland Folk Museum had an idea.
Why not create a dish for all temperatures?
They imagined combining our nation’s favourite breakfast dish, renowned for its warmth giving properties, with everyone’s summer favourite – ice cream – and came up with porridge ice cream.
Partnering with Simpsons of Buckie to tackle this seemingly impossible task they have managed to produce a triumph which has already been trialled with great success, on over 800 American Exchange Students
The ice cream is available in three fantastic flavours – fruity porridge & raspberry, sticky sweet Porridge & Butterscotch and of course good old plain porridge.
The new flavours will be launched at the Highland Folk museum Newtonmore on Tuesday 28th of July and will be on sale from the Museum’s classic ice cream bike over the rest of the summer.
