Youth pipe band seek business sponsor to help keep the beat

High Life Highland’s new youth pipe band is really going places! Belgium to be precise, to take part in a special competition and festival in September. To help them get there – as well as rehearse and perform closer to home – they are looking for a business sponsor to support them over the next few years.

The new sponsor will have their business name included in the pipe band’s title and their name and logo featured on the bass drum – as well as mentions in press and publicity associated with the band.

Norman Bolton, Head of Music Development at High Life Highland explained: “This is a really unique opportunity for a local business to be associated with our fantastic youth pipe band. Our young musicians, who are based all over the Highlands, are extremely talented and bring a great deal of joy to anyone who sees and hears them.

“It is an expensive band to operate with uniforms and instruments – £1000 for example would barely cover the cost of replacing the reeds in all the sets of pipes! However, they are great ambassadors for our youth music programme, so we are keen to ensure they have a busy and successful few years ahead of them and funding from a sponsor would greatly help.”

The youth pipe band are currently in rehearsals for Beating Retreat at Inverness Leisure on 16th June, which provides them with an excellent opportunity to give their debut public performance prior to the trip to Europe later in the year.

The trip to the Schotsweekend Festival in Alden Biesen, Belgium involves 31 young musicians and additional adults – with High Life Highland’s youth folk band, Beira, also performing over the four days.
