Through April and May the Highland Archive Centre is holding a series of talks looking at records in our collections.
Crime & Punishment Records, 17th April 6:00pm-7:00pm
Talk about the many fascinating items in the Highland Archive Centre’s collections which look at the history of crime and punishment in the Highlands, including the historic records of the Northern Constabulary. Cost: £3.00
Trade & Business Records, 1st May 6:00pm-7:00pm
This talk will focus on the diverse range of trade and business archives held by the Highland Archive Centre, including those of AI Welders (Rose Street Foundry) and McDermott Marine Construction. Cost: £3.00
Health Records, 15th May 6:00pm-7:00pm
Learn about the extensive collection of archives the Highland Archive Centre holds on behalf of NHS Highland, including the complete records of Craig Dunain (otherwise known as the District Lunatic Asylum) which received patients from across the Highlands. Cost: £3.00
Transport Records, 29th May 6:00pm-7:00pm
This talk will examine documents in the Highland Archive Centre’s collections relating to trains, ships, cars and other transport developments through Highland history. Cost: £3.00
Following each of these talks there will be an opportunity to view a small display of records relating to the topic.
