Malcolm Blane Diary, Sep 1903-Mar 1904
This is the diary of Malcolm Blane, a 10 year old schoolboy in 1903. Malcolm’s
well-connected family owned an estate in Windsor and he attended boarding school in Kent. The family also owned a holiday home in Nairn and this is the reason why this volume (and five others in the series) are now housed in the Highland Archive Centre. Throughout the diaries imaginative stories, plays, poems, doodles and drawings record Malcolm’s adventures. His intelligence, enthusiasm, and sense of wonder with the world are reflected in his writing and drawing. This wonderful diary documents his early life, the circles in which he moved and reflects the times in which it was written. Created as a personal document, it now serves a different, wider purpose, allowing the unintended reader a fascinating glimpse back in time.
