Recent discoveries and old stories from the archive: Treasure Trove in the Highlands, Lunchtime Lecture with Dr Natasha Ferguson, 1pm – 2pm

Cait 25Hear out about recent discoveries of archaeological objects from the Highlands and ways in which significant artefacts are protected for the benefit of the nation in museum collections across Scotland through the Treasure Trove process. Going back in time, the talk will also highlight fascinating past Treasure Trove cases from the 1920s onwards.

Treasure Trove public workshop – identifying archaeological objects and reporting to Treasure Trove, with Dr Natasha Ferguson and Stuart Campbell, 3pm – 4:30pm

Chance discoveries of artefacts by members of the public have the potential to make a significant contribution to our understanding of Scotland’s past. This is a workshop for anyone with an interest in archaeological objects.  Learn about archaeological material and how to identify it with an opportunity for object handling. The workshop will also look at methods of best practice such as recording findspots and first aid for objects priorCait 24 to reporting
