This year we are celebrating the museum’s 200th anniversary!
Acquisitions charts 200 years of museum collecting, by showing our most recent additions alongside some unusual items from the stores that reflect the early collections. Highlights include a newly arrived communion cup, made by John Baillie of Inverness c.1737, and our own ‘Wimbledon’ rosewater dish trophy presented over 100 years ago.
The current display includes a 1960s typewriter from an Evanton newsagents, the hand-bell from Clachnaharry Old School, a grocer’s flagon from Tomnahurich Street, and a bible from East Church, as well as a bust of Eva Chew, who founded the first female flying corps for the Norwegian Air Force. Featured exhibits will continue to change throughout the course of the display.
