Invergordon Leisure Centre Open Day

Join us at Invergordon Leisure Centre on Saturday the 9th November 2024, explore the facility and take part in our FREE activites open to all who would like to give them a go.

For any non-members, sign up to a highlife membership on the day at Inverness Leisure and pay nothing until the 8th of December.

Our varied programme of activities ensures there is something for everyone.

We recommend booking your chosen activites in advance to avoid disappointment, however walk ins are welcome.

Please note that the event is free but has limited capacity for its bookable activities. If you are unable to attend, please call us at 01349 853689 to cancel your ticket, so someone else can take your spot.

Adult Activites on Offer

BODYATTACK™ is a high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. Our LES MILLS™ instructor will pump out energizing tunes and lead you through the workout – challenging your limits in a good way and leaving you with a sense of achievement.

 BODYBALANCE™ is a new generation yoga class that will improve your mind, your body and your life.You can expect to bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves, elements of Tai Chi and Pilates while an inspiring soundtrack plays in the background. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started.

Teenagers aged 14+ are able to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

An all over body workout utilising barbells and weight plates. The class includes traditional resistance training exercises with a modern approach to achieve fantastic results.

Core and conditioning is an exercise class that uses a variety of exercises to target your abs, glutes, obliques and other muscles connecting your upper and lower body. Core and conditioning supports the development of your core strength and stability which can help to improve your posture.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts are a popular kind of exercise that involve exerting your maximum energy during short periods of time. HIIT workouts require you to give bursts of high-intensity strength and cardio exercises followed by brief periods of recovery.

Indoor cycling, often called spinning, is a form of exercise with classes focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity (race days) and recovery, and involves using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a classroom setting.

Kettlebells are cast-iron weights shaped like a ball with a handle for gripping. You hold the kettlebell in one or both hands and go through a series of exercises like the two arm swing, a squat, the snatch, the load carry, and the high pull.

Kettlebell workouts can help you to build muscle and improve your strength, core stability, balance, flexibility, and coordination. It’s a versatile piece of equipment, which means you can perform a range of exercises which target single or multiple groups at the same time. You can get an effective workout just using this single piece of equipment.

This session is for our older adult age range who are invited to come and try some activities in our sports hall.

Badminton, Table Tennis and Indoor Bowls will all be available to try. All abilities are welcome to take part in this relaxed session. Hot drinks and biscuits provided for those who want a sit down and a blether too.

Otago is an exercise class aimed to prevent falls, injuries and improve cognition amongst older people, working on increasing strength, balance and flexibility. This class is also suitable for people with medical conditions which require gentle exercise and rehabilitation, while building up confidence at the same time.

Pilates is an exercise program that focuses on core stability, strength, mobility and stretching exercises completed on an exercise mat. Activating your core stability, the intensity of each exercise is adjusted using varying positions and movements.

Come along and let Charles introduce you to our Concept 2 rowing machines. Our Concept 2 rowers are an excellent choice for a great cardio workout that works the entire body. Charles will be on hand to teach and support your rowing technique before putting you through your paces!

Zumba is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance.

What to expect from your first Zumba Class, you may not master all the choreography right away—and that’s OK, you’ll be exposed to lots of different dance styles. There’s a warm-up and a cool down. Some moves might be hard on your knees…grab water when you need it.

Teenagers aged 14+ are able to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

New members or new to the gym? You will be required to undertake a full Technogym induction taking you through both our Cardio and resistance equipment. 

Children aged 11+ are permitted to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

This is for beginners or those less confident in weightlifting.  This induction will cover the main lifting techniques to assist you in minimising the risk of injury that could be caused by misuse.

Kids & Family Activities on Offer

The Bookbug programme helps to give all children the best start in life through offering free book gifting and access to free high quality Bookbug Sessions.

Bookbug encourages parents and carers to share books with their children from as early an age as possible to inspire a love of reading in every child. Taking time to talk, play, read and sing with your little ones reaps long-term benefits.

This is a childrens activity that offers some fun and games on our very own bouncy castle and also the opportunity to create some exciting crafts using our variety of supplies.

A fun session in our pool which includes the water features and the flume aswell as use of our sauna, steam room and spa. Open to all ages and great for families.

Lego Club is inventive fun for all the family. This is your time to get creative with the lego and duplo blocks provided by the library and put them on display for all to see. Each week has its very own theme to base your build around.

Care and Learning Alliance (CALA) will be running a play session at their setting – Fortrose ELC.

CALA’s play team will deliver an hour of games and activities in the garden and it will also be an opportunity for prospective families to look around the setting.
