The Caithness Archives Centre recently ran a course of four classes in “Tracing Your WW1 Ancestors”. The classes explored how to discover wartime service records online, and how to find out more about serving men and women through sources such as the census, birth and marriage records and school records.
The course also considered how to find out about life on the home front through reports in the John O’Groat Journal and other local newspapers, as well as through parish records of poor relief and police crime registers.
