High Life Highland Rangers » Conservation and Leadership Volunteering
The High Life Highland Countryside Ranger Service offer a number of conservation volunteering and leadership opportunities. We are a not-for-profit service and are committed to making space for nature to thrive.
Conservation Volunteering
If you interested in helping out in your community to support the recovery and conservation of habitats for wild species you may be interested in joining one of our working party events. The Countryside Ranger service organise working party conservation events throughout the year from beach cleans to invasive species removal, and all PPE is supplied. These are usually thoroughly enjoyable days out, with likeminded individuals and bring a great sense of satisfaction.
In addition to these events, we can help you set up your own nature restoration group in your community, advise on how to create and maintain habitats to promote biodiversity, and how to record what you see for the biological record. We also organise events around the field monitoring of species at various locations around Highland, which can be done individually in your area without any need to join a group, with records collated and submitted online. This exercise can help to deepen your understanding and nature connection on your local walk, as well as help in gathering important information in the range of certain plant and invertebrate species.

Adult Leadership: Volunteer Ranger opportunities
There are a number of limited opportunities within the HLH Ranger Service to become a volunteer ranger. If you are looking to become a volunteer with HLH it would be beneficial in the first instance to find the nearest Ranger to where you are based here and chat to them about your aspirations, experience of delivery and availability to assist on events within the area.
