We are delighted to announce the return of our Virtual Running Series for 2022. Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with over 4500 pupils taking part from 114 different primary schools across Highland. We hope schools, pupils and families will be happy to see it return for 2022.
High Life Highland’s Virtual Running Series
The HLH Virtual Running Series starts on Monday 1st March 2022 and will run for the duration of the month.
Whether as an individual, with your family or as part of a running club or school we are calling all primary aged children in the Highlands to take part in our Virtual Running Series. Each pupil who completed their local course and submits their entry will be gain an email certificate. We will also showcase the participation figures per primary school and running clubs weekly and award schools with the highest percentage of pupils taking part and the most amount of runs in the month as our ‘Active Highland Virtual Running Champions’.
The challenge can be completed in your own time during the month of March, within your own local area and you can also create your own course. Your local Active Schools Coordinators will also identify some local courses for you, you will be able to find them on the local Active Schools Facebook pages. Routes can be recorded via use of a SMART device or simply by means of a marked course and stopwatch. Where pupils are in school, teachers can identify routes within the school grounds to enable pupils to take part.
Each age group has a minimum distance to be covered:
P1-P3 – 600m
P4-P5 – 1200m
P6-P7 – 1800m
You can complete your local courses as many times as you want during the month and submit all your entries. Time is not a requirement, yet if recorded can be included in your submission. We also encourage you to upload and share your photos, videos, tracking data and stories through our social media channels.
The submission of all participant runs to be in by 5pm on Wednesday 31st March 2022 via the HLH Challenge Link below. Entries after this time may not be counted.
Good luck to all pupils and schools and clubs taking part!
