This award encourages people to connect with, enjoy, and care for wild places. It’s an environmental award scheme for people of all backgrounds – groups, families, individuals. It’s non-competitive, inclusive and accessible. The John Muir Award offers an ideal structure for contributing to the requirements of the Curriculum – it is appropriate for upper primary and secondary school pupils and can be set up to meet specific subject areas such as Geography, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, English, Maths and IT; as a programme of interdisciplinary / cross curricular activity or; or to meet a wider areas of learning such as outdoor education, personal and health education, sustainable development and citizenship.
